Do you help businesses and property owners too?

Yes. Along with home remodels, we connect businesses, landlords and public agencies with a licensed general contractor for commercial remodels, tenant improvements and restroom and accessibility upgrades.

How does this service work?

Tell us about your project using the form or by phone. We pass your request to an experienced, licensed local general contractor, who contacts you to discuss the project and schedule a walkthrough. Any work is done under a separate contract between you and the contractor.

Is there a cost to request a consultation?

No. Requesting a consultation is free and there is no obligation.

How much does a remodel cost in Ventura County?

It depends on how much of the house is involved and what is behind the walls: moving plumbing, removing walls, upgrading the electrical panel and the level of finishes drive the number. Our remodel cost guide explains every major cost driver, and the contractor can give you a budget range after a walkthrough.

How long does a kitchen or whole-home remodel take?

It depends on scope, permits and how quickly selections are made. Ordering cabinets, windows and fixtures before demolition is the single biggest thing that keeps a remodel on schedule.

Can you help with custom homes and fire rebuilds?

Yes. We connect homeowners with a licensed general contractor experienced in new-home construction and rebuilds. See custom homes, fire rebuilds and our fire rebuild guide.

How do I verify a contractor's license?

Use the Contractors State License Board's license lookup. Check that the license is active, the classification fits the work and the bond and workers' compensation information are current.

What areas do you serve?

All of Ventura County, including Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, Ojai, Santa Paula, Moorpark, Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks, plus Carpinteria, Santa Barbara, Goleta, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills and Malibu. See all service areas.

Do I need to move out during a whole-home remodel?

Not always. Some projects can be phased so part of the house stays usable. If the kitchen and bathrooms are all being remodeled at once, a short move-out often saves time and money.

Can a load-bearing wall be removed?

Usually, with a structural engineer's design and a permit. The load is carried by a new beam and posts down to adequate footings.

How long does a kitchen remodel take?

Once cabinets and materials are on hand, a typical full kitchen remodel takes several weeks of construction; projects that move walls or plumbing take longer. Ordering before demolition makes the biggest difference.

Can I stay in my house during a kitchen remodel?

Usually, yes. The work area can be sealed off, and many families set up a temporary kitchen elsewhere in the house.

How long does a bathroom remodel take?

A full gut remodel of a single bathroom typically takes a few weeks of construction once materials are on hand. Custom glass and special-order tile are the usual long-lead items.

Can I convert my tub to a walk-in shower?

Yes. It is one of the most common bathroom remodels: the drain is reworked, a waterproofed shower pan is built and glass and tile are added.

Can I choose any window brand?

Yes. The contractor installs all brands and can help you compare options.

Should I choose retrofit or new-construction windows?

Retrofit windows avoid most stucco work and cost less. New-construction windows give the most watertight installation and are best when frames are damaged or walls are already open. See our window replacement guide.

How long does it take to build a custom home?

Design and permitting usually take longer than people expect. Construction time depends on size, site and finishes.

Can the contractor work with my architect?

Yes. Working from an owner's architect and engineers is common, and joining early helps keep the design aligned with the budget.

Can I rebuild larger than my original home?

Often, yes, subject to zoning and permits. Building larger can affect fee waivers, streamlined approvals and how the rebuild is assessed for property tax; see our rebuild guide.

Can my existing foundation be reused?

Sometimes. A structural engineer evaluates fire damage to the slab or foundation before design.

Can my business stay open during a remodel?

Often, yes. Work can be phased by area, done after hours or on weekends, and separated with temporary walls and dust control. The contractor should give you a phasing plan with the estimate.

Do commercial remodels need permits?

Most do. Changes to walls, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, exits or occupancy require building permits, and some cities also require planning or fire department review.

How long does a tenant improvement take?

It depends on size, permits and how much of the existing space is reused. Permit review is often the longest step, so starting drawings early matters.

Does a tenant improvement need a permit?

Almost always. New walls, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and changes to exits or occupancy require building permits, and some projects also need fire department review.

What accessibility rules apply to commercial restrooms in California?

California Building Code Chapter 11B sets requirements for accessible restrooms, including clear floor space, fixture and accessory heights, grab bars, door hardware and signage. Local building departments enforce them during plan check and inspection.

What is a CASp inspection?

A Certified Access Specialist (CASp) is certified by the State of California to inspect sites for compliance with accessibility standards. A CASp report can help a business identify and plan accessibility improvements.
